Services » Clinical Services



 The Department of Child Health has grown in terms of patient services at every level in the past one year.  The Department handles one third of all hospital admissions and one fourth of all A&E patient visits. The Department caters to all specialty patients including Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Neurology, Nephrology, Immunology & Allergy, Genetic and Metabolic Diseases, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Gastro-enterology, Respiratory Diseases and Cardiology. 

The total number of beds allotted to the department stands as 112 (1 Blue –24, 1 Purple –20, 2 Blue –24, NICU –16, Postnatal –24, PICU –4). There were a total of 7561 admissions to the various pediatric, pediatric intensive care, neonatal and postnatal units surpassing the previous year’s total of 6386 by 18%. 8972 children came to the various pediatric and neonatal clinics last year.

Long And Short Services

  • Weekly visits to the orphanage at Al Khuwair (Ministry of Social Affairs) by the Paediatric team giving all inmates full medical care
  • Monthly visits to the center for Special Education, Muscat by the Paediatric team giving all inmates full medical care.
  • Provision of transport allowance and financial help to needy patients, on a monthly basis.
  • Regular visits to parks and other fun spots for children with long term illnesses.
  • Contribute in community and child services by presenting health and religious lectures in order to achieve haltht awarness and help foamilies to cope with their children illnesses.  
  • Visit other establishments like disabled care and rehabilitation centers in order to present health awarness regard different disases adn ways of  treatment.
  • Accommodate children's parents who came from far areas in the Guest House which is built next to the hospital building  and donated by Al Shaikh Saud Bahwan Al Mukhaini.
  • Provision of supportive equipment to patients eg: desferral pumps, wheelchair, etc.
  • Coordinate with schools to enure continuation of admitted children study.

 Services » Non Clinical

  •  Monthly parties are arranged for children with cancer and special needs, in addition to outings to public parks and fun trips.
  • Teach  admitted children how to use computers, and encourage them to read.

  • Select volunteers to help teaching admitted children to participate in art activities.

Coordinate with shcools to ensure continutatoin of admitted children study
Art of Living courses are also being organized by the Department on a regular basis with help of the Art of Living Foundation, Muscat.

Collect donation for the children in cooperation with SQUH adminsitration by carrying out different activities in the departmetn. These donations are used to provide essential health equipments for sick children like asthma, diabetes, sputum section. Thalasemia equipments and wheelchairs..ect.

Make adn sale poetry books consist of children drawings and poetry done by children suffering from conacer and use the benefits for their welfare.
