The Urology division provides comprehensive service at SQUH including out patient, day care and in patient services, undergraduate and post graduate student services and clinical research activities. For convenience the Urology division at SQUH works as two teams.

Major Surgical Services: SQUH Urology division conducts major surgeries on two days - Sundays and Tuesdays in room 2 of the major operation theatre. Both endoscopic and open surgical procedures are done here. A wide variety of uro-surgical procedures are performed by us (click here for the list). The last Tuesday of each month usually reserved for renal transplantation surgery depending on availability of cases.

Out Patient Services - Urology Outpatient clinics are conducted twice a week - on Mondays and Thursdays - from 8 AM to 1 PM in the SQUH OPD block (Ground floor) Room No 12, 13, 14, 15. Patient are seen by appointment only. The outpatient clinic has facility for Uroflowmetry studies and bladder scan for residual urine estimation as well as basic ultrasound scan facility. Treatment rooms for intravesical BCG instillations and LHRH analogue injections as well as routine surgical dressings are also available here.

Day Care Services - SQUH Urology offers daycare facilities twice a week - Sundays & Thursdays - from 8 AM to 2 PM in the SQUH Daycare facility located near the Accident & Emergency block. On Sundays minor open surgical procedures (neonatal circumcision) are performed in the minor operation theatre and on Thursdays minor endoscopic procedures (like flexible cystoscopy, stent removals) are performed in the minor operation theatre. Patients for daycare procedures are booked from the out-patient clinics as well as the wards in advance.

ESWL Services - The extra-corporal shock wave lithotripsy is performed in minor operation theatre room no 1762 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 AM to 2 PM. Patients are given appointments from the outpatient clinics (for daycare admissions) or from the wards. We use Siemens Modularis Vario Lithotriptor to fragment renal and ureteric stones. It has both fluroscopy and ultrasound for stone localisation. These procedures are usually performed with minimal sedation and analgesia and patient can usually leave the hospital on the same day.

Urodynamic Services - The Urology and Uro-gynaecology divisions of SQUH perform Urodynamic studies (Cystometry, pressure flow studies with and without EMG and uroflowmetery) on patients on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays by appointments. We use advanced Mediwatch Clinic Sensic machine for performing UDS. Patients are admitted for the procedure either in the day care unit or the in-patient wards. The procedure is under antibiotic cover with local anaesthesia and lasts for approximately one hour and patient can usually go home on the same day. Facility is also available for doing cystoscopy in the same time after the urodynamic study.
In-Patient Services: The male urology patients are admitted in 4 Red Ward and females in 4 Yellow ward. This is located in the main hospital block on the fourth floor. Limited number of private rooms are available in 4 Purple ward also located in the fourth floor on nominal payment. The wards are shared with general surgery patients. The male ward has facility for Uroflowmetry and bladder scan in addition to treatment rooms. Three hi-dependency beds are available in the male and female wards.
