|The electron microscopy unit in the department of Pathology has been the highlight of SQU and SQUH for over 20 years. It is a unique facility among all hospitals in the country. With its state of the art equipment including scanning and transmission electron microscopes and a recently acquired field emission microscope, it has been a major contributor to research and diagnosis. A team of well trained and experienced staff, provide diagnostic, research and teaching services to SQUH, the colleges of SQU and other institutions in the country. It is a leading facility in the diagnosis of renal and neuromuscular disorders. In addition, the staff provide hands on training to students of the BSc MLS course, which is an integral part of their curriculum. The unit continuously collaborates with investigators from other colleges, for both material and biological research. This is across different levels ranging from the supervision of undergraduate student projects through to PhD research projects.
